The development of Kazakhstan’s transport network has created favourable ground for attracting cargo traffic along the China – Europe route. This, in turn, has strengthened trade ties between the states of the Caspian basin. The advancing processes of globalisation and the geographical location of the Mangystau region — namely the ports of Aktau, Kuryk and the Northern Terminal — bring to the forefront cargo transportation along the following routes:
- Kazakhstan – Azerbaijan – Georgia – Türkiye, onward to Europe.
